The Organisation
EDA CapitalConnect Ltd is a subsidiary of EDA Rural Systems Private Limited (EDA). Established in 1983, EDA is a leading development sector consultancy, research and capacity building organisation. Driven by a passion to contribute towards sustainable development, the team at EDA has successfully developed and delivered solutions that have aided in the evolution of microfinance and micro-enterprise sectors over the last 25 years. EDA’s work has spanned across 15 countries in South Asia, South-East Asia, Central Asia and the Pacific regions, and has been in association with multi-lateral development organisations, global not-for-profit institutions, governmental institutions and well over a hundred grass-roots microfinance institutions, and social enterprises.

Understanding the critical need to channel formal banking sector funds into the microfinance space, in 1998 EDA promoted one of the first specialised independent microfinance credit rating institutions, Micro-Credit Ratings International Ltd (M-CRIL). Having assessed over 250 entities in 25 countries stretching from Russia to the Philippines, M-CRIL is today the world leader in the rating of microfinance institutions.
Now, in an effort to improve further the efficiency of capital creation in the microfinance and the larger social enterprise space, EDA has launched CapitalConnect.
